While it is a major assumption that salary and work satisfaction are the factors guiding people’s career choice, a news survey highlights that good work culture has become a bigger attraction for candidates.
The survey also says that good work culture is being chosen over big salary hikes. 65 per cent of the respondents in the survey said that they would choose a company that actively promotes work culture instead of corporate culture.
The survey was conducted by JobBuzz.in, the employer rating platform which points out that people are not accepting job offers with big salary hikes if the work culture is not good.
“Today’s high-performance candidates having two or more offers in hand will only accept an employment offer if the company’s work culture and its HR practices are appealing enough to their sensibilities,” said TimesJobs.com COO Vivek Madhukar.
Interestingly, the survey has two folds- while the senior level employees chose healthy work culture to make their career choices, at junior level in hierarchy the salary still remains one of the guiding force as compared to the wok environment.
According to the survey, for bad work culture, it is the top management and HR responsible. 66 per cent of the respondents in the survey said that it is top management while 12 per cent blamed it on the boss and 11 per cent held the HR responsible for poor work culture.
The remaining other 11 peers voted peers and team coo-ordination responsible for guiding the work culture in the company.
“This survey reveals the growing importance Gen Y and Z are giving to the work atmosphere and culture of an organisation when seeking employment, thanks to wider use of employer rating platforms, more job options and social media,” Madhukar added.
