Google Play Music Service Finally Comes to India

Google Play Music Service Finally Comes to India
Google Play Music is live on Android and the Web
Users can purchase songs and albums individually
A song costs Rs. 15 while an album will charge you Rs. 100 – Rs. 200
It has been a long time for the users in India waiting for Google to introduce its Play Music service in India. And the wait is finally over. Google has quietly opened its Play Music store in India, with songs and albums now available for purchase. The Play Music was rumoured to launch back in July but it didn’t happen at that time. Notably, the subscription service – known as Google Play Music All Access – is not yet available in the country.

The news comes after the Google for India’s event on Tuesday where the company launched a bunch of apps and new features suited for the Indian users. However, there is no official announcement by Google India to add to the same on its blog. With the new Play Music service, Google will enter the digital music market in India to compete with the likes of Apple’s iTunes and Airtel’s Wynk Music.

Google Play Music doesn’t let you stream music as of now, with no Google Play All Access subscription plan, no radio, and podcasts services in India. You can only buy songs and albums individually on the app. With no support for streaming, Google may fall behind Apple Music, Saavn, and Gaana that currently occupy the streaming market in India.
Detailing on the pricing, Google Play Music hosts individual songs of the genres like Bollywood, regional, Indian Pop, and International starting Rs. 15 per song, while an entire album costs within the Rs. 100 – Rs. 200 range. You can preview the tracks and pay for them as per your suitability using your debit/ credit card, or with Google Play cards.

The Web version of Play Music is also live with a support for Google Chrome extension for desktops in case users want a player app. Interestingly, the Play Music app on iOS didn’t let us successfully sign into the app, suggesting the service might roll out on iOS platform later. Users can also upload music via Google Play Music on the web – users will be required to download the Music Manager app, which then allows you to upload files from your computer, or playlists via iTunes and the Windows Media player. Users will then be able to listen to the uploaded music anywhere once they sign into the Google Play Music service, whether on Android or the Web.

You Can Now Book an Ola Cab via Siri on iOS 10

Ola Gets Siri and Maps Integration for iOS 10 Users
One of iOS 10’s biggest new features was the opening up of the Siri voice-based virtual assistant to third-party apps. Alongside SiriKit, Apple also unveiled MapKit to allow third-party integration with Apple Maps. One of the first such integrations was with Uber, and now its biggest rival in India – Ola – has rolled out the same functionality, including Apple Maps support.

iPhone users running iOS 10 with the latest version of Ola can now ask Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant, to book cabs for them. The update, which also includes Apple Maps integration, marks Ola’s growing focus on making cab booking even more accessible and convenient for iPhone users in India, Ola said in a statement.

“Using just their voice, iPhone users running iOS 10 can simply say, ‘Hey Siri, get me an Olacab’ to book their next ride,” it added.

“Technology is at the core of all our solutions aimed at providing enhanced mobility to our customers. Integrating our app with iOS 10 is a step towards redefining customer experience. We are proud to be one of the early adopters of Sirikit and Mapkit in the world,” Ola co-founder and CTO Ankit Bhati said.
With this update, Apple users will also get access to Ola directly from Apple Maps while searching for their destination, he added.

Besides, Ola has launched an independent app on Apple Watch to ensure a consistent experience across all Apple devices.

Facebook Testing Chat Assist for Messenger; Adds New Group Chat Polls Feature

Facebook’s Messenger app will soon make sure you remember to pay back your friend, even though you would rather forget, with a feature called Chat Assist. The company has separately launched the group chat polls feature in the US.

The company is testing the Chat Assist feature that will use machine learning to recognises words and prompt an action in a chat. So, for example, if your friend reminds you to pay a particular amount of money back, Chat Assist will prompt a payment link asking if you want to pay the amount you owe.Facebook says the feature is automated and optional.

Chat Assists follows the recent launch of Facebook Messenger’s online payment system. Users will be able to pay the amount they owe directly through Messenger. The payment service was launched so that business could sell their products and services directly to customers through Messenger.

Meanwhile, Facebook Messenger will get group chat polls starting Friday. The feature only works for group chats and works like any other poll. You can start a poll by tapping the Polls icon in the composer. You can then type a question like ‘where to eat’ and provide options for your group to vote on. It’s a clean, hassle-free way to know what people want. The feature is currently only available in the US for Android and iOS users.

RailTel to Provide Digital Connectivity in Far-Flung Areas

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu Friday asked RailTel to adopt a “stand alone” approach to provide digital connectivity in far-flung areas.

Congratulating RailTel on its annual day, Prabhu said it plays a crucial role in providing digital connectivity across the country and has become the backbone of telecommunication network.

“We are facing challenges as India is a very big country. Some villages in the far-flung areas face difficulty in having connectivity, he said.

RailTel, railways’ telecom PSU, is at the forefront in providing nation-wide Broadband Telecom and Multimedia Network in all parts of the country in addition to modernisation of train operations and administration network systems for the Railways.

“We must have rural connectivity. Some villages in far-flung areas need stand alone solution to get digitally connected and RailTel should do that, Prabhu said.

RailTel, a telecom services provider, has a pan-India optic fiber network covering all important cities and many rural areas of the country.

He said through the RailTel network digital connectivity can be used for providing telemedicine facility, education and entertainment in remote areas.

With its pan-India high capacity network, RailTel is currently working towards creating a knowledge society at various fronts and has been selected for implementation of various mission-mode projects in the telecom field.

Prabhu said the country has a large youth population and we must fulfill their aspirations.

Speaking on the occasion, Google Vice-President Rajan Anandan said, “We are excited to provide very high speed free Wi-Fi service in partnership with RailTel. It is an important milestone.”

RailTel in association with Google is expected to provide free Wi-Fi facility at 400 stations by the end of 2018. Describing the experience in providing free Wi-Fi service at crowded stations as a “very exciting journey”, Google Vice-President said “Once we provide Wi-Fi at 400 stations there will be about 300 million Indians who go through the stations and will have access to very high speed Wi-Fi service.”

“300 million population is very large as India’s total Internet population is about 350 million so we are incredibly excited about it,” he said.

Bodybuilders continue to like it because of its effectiveness in losing weight while maintaining muscles. Clenbuterol is being used as a weight loss drug for more than 25 years. It acts as an effective supplement to burn fatty tissue alongside lean muscle mass. The short term effects of Clenbuterol are positive with a considerable decrease in body fat percentage in most of the cases.

Clenbuterol stimulates metabolism within the body by warming the body at the cellular level. This helps in burning the fats stored in the body. Doing this rather helps you build muscle faster when Clenbuterol cycle is on.

Clenbuterol cycle

Clenbuterol cycle typically lasts for two weeks, with a two-week off. It is observed that the supplement becomes ineffective after being in use for three or four weeks. Insomnia and shaking are common short term side effects when the supplement cycle is on. However, the problem of insomnia can be tackled well by taking the supplement early in the day so that it is circulated well within the body until the night time. Hypertension, nervousness, headache, muscle cramps and dry mouth are some of the other short term side effects, besides an increase in heart rate. Those with cardiovascular problems may avoid using Clenbuterol.

Avoidable long term side effects

Long term side effects of the supplement, which is mostly related to heart, can be prevented by sticking to a cycle, and taking a gap of many months between two cycles.

Due to its minimal side effects, Clenbuterol is taken with proper diet and regular exercise can offer excellent results.

Pokemon Go Will Get New Pokemon Says Maker; Update Introduces Wrist Accessory Support

  • Pokemon Go will get new Pokemon going ahead
  • Niantic discussing player-versus-player battles
  • Pokemon Go Plus wrist accessory launched at $35

It is not a hidden fact that Pokemon Go has moved past its prime. Several reports have depicted the fall in popularity that the augmented reality game has suffered. However, the game still enjoys a huge user base and if the latest words by Niantic CEO John Hanke are anything to go by, the lost players might be interested in coming back to the game.

At TechCrunch Disrupt, Hanke discussed Niantic’s plans to develop the game further and how it will be adding various features going forward. Regarding introduction of new Pokemon to the game, Hanke said, “It’s always been the intent to gradually introduce more Pokémon into the experience over time. It’s a natural way to keep the game fresh. Some Pokémon are highly coveted and people are going to be really excited when they show up in the game,” reports Venture Beat.

He said that the company always looked at Pokemon Go as a game that will develop over several years. He said, “We got the minimum viable product into the marketplace, and that’s the tip of the iceberg in terms of where we’ll ultimately take the game.”

Hanke said that the company is trying to figure out the best ways to include features like player- Pokémon trading, versus-player battles, while providing more stable servers over time. Hanke didn’t provide any specific timeline for introduction of these features.

Niantic also launched its much-awaited Pokemon Go Plus wrist accessory, which was revealed by the company at the game’s launch. Pokemon Go Plus connects with your Android or iOS phone, alerts you about in-game events like the presence of PokeStops or Pokemon by vibrating or by flashing an LED light.

However, the company has clarified that the accessory will only be available in select markets and limited quantities.

The accessory is fairly useful and will help its users save battery-life on their phones and will cost $34.99 (roughly Rs. 2,350). Notably, Pokemon Go is coming to the Apple Watch to offer similar companion app functionality to augment gameplay.

Niantic has also updated both Android and iOS apps to support the wrist accessory, adding a quick help guide apart other minor fixes.

Paytm Now Lets You Make IRCTC Train Ticket Bookings

Paytm Now Lets You Make IRCTC Train Ticket Bookings

  • Now you can book rail tickets via the Paytm app and website
  • Paytm also now powers payments for the IRCTC website
  • Its goal is to become the largest travel booking platform

Paytm has been partnering to offering more and more services via its app and website, and now it is allowing users to book train tickets via IRCTC direct from the Paytm platform. On Friday Paytm announced that it is powering the payment gateway for the rail-booking platform. The Paytm wallet was already available as a payment option for IRCTC, and the integration of Paytm’s payment gateway was something that would not visibly affect most users. However, it now appears that there was more to the deal with IRCTC.

On Monday, Paytm announced that IRCTC tickets are now going to be available from Paytm’s app and website. The company noted that in recent months, it has seen huge growth in its travel marketplace, and stated that its bus ticket business has broken even, while flights bookings have been growing at a 4x rate month on month since launch in May. With the availability of rail tickets via IRCTC, Paytm hopes to become the biggest travel booking destination across categories.

“At Paytm, our endeavour is to solve for every need of a traveller,” said Abhishek Rajan, Vice President, Paytm. “Our alliance with IRCTC is a major leap as it completes the spectrum of air, road and rail ticket booking solutions available on Paytm. This is a significant milestone in our efforts to build India’s largest travel marketplace.”

Of course, all the major OTA websites also allow you to book train tickets using your IRCTC credentials, so it will be interesting to see what value addition Paytm can bring to the table with this offering.

Earlier, Paytm also tied up with IRCTC for e-catering payments. IRCTC has also tied up with online delivery firm FoodPanda, enabling consumers to order from a variety of cuisine options.

iPhone 7 Being Snapped Up in Asia, but Crowds Smaller Despite Sell-Out

iPhone 7 Being Snapped Up in Asia, but Crowds Smaller Despite Sell-Out

  • Underneath the usual fanfare, crowds were smaller than in past years
  • Apple will launch in its key Asian market China later on Friday
  • Sales in China will be the acid test for Apple’s year ahead

Apple fans from Sydney to Tokyo, the first to snap the new iPhone 7 off the shelves, cheered as they left stores on Friday brandishing their purchases, flanked by applauding sales staff.

But underneath the usual fanfare, and despite complaints that the larger size of the new phone and the new jet black colour were sold out, crowds were smaller than in past years.

Some 200 people were gathered in Sydney light drizzle for the privilege of being the first worldwide to hold an iPhone 7. Apple will launch in its key Asian market China later on Friday.

“It feels great to be the first in the world to have the iPhone 7. It was 100 percent worth it,” said Marcus Barsoum, a 16-year-old “diehard Apple fan” who spent two nights camped outside the Sydney store.

Weary but elated, Barsoum charged in to the store at 8am to the cheers of Apple staff. He emerged with a matte black iPhone 7 although he had wanted a iPhone 7 Pus in jet black.

Dale Adams, who works at J.P. Morgan in Sydney, arrived only 15 minutes before the store opened and was able to buy a iPhone 7 Plus, having ordered it online more than a week ago.

“I’m certainly not one of the hardcore Apple fans but I think the bigger capacity, better battery, better camera, that’s enough to make the jump,” he said.

Chatter about the launch on Chinese microblog Weibo has been far more muted than when the iPhone 6 debuted in 2014. An index of searches on Baidu, China’s equivalent of Google, shows the new phone lagging both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5.

Sales in China will be the acid test for Apple’s year ahead: the mega success of the iPhone 6 in China drove sales last year, while the slower-burn iPhone 6s contributed to Apple’s first global revenue drop in over a decade earlier this year.

Pandora Plus Premium Subscription Launched at $4.99

Pandora Plus Premium Subscription Launched at $4.99

  • Pandora said that its premium service would cost $4.99 a month
  • Pandora Plus will include more advanced features in the coming months
  • To launch an on-demand subscription platform later this year

Internet radio leader Pandora unveiled plans Thursday to challenge streaming stalwarts such as Spotify by undercutting them on price and matching them with on-demand music.

The move comes after prolonged market jitters over the future of Pandora at a time that on-demand streaming is reshaping the music industry.

Pandora said that its premium service would cost $4.99 (roughly Rs. 330) a month – half its earlier cost and half the subscription prices for Spotify and Apple Music.

The company said the new Pandora Plus will include more advanced features to be rolled out in the coming months.

Among them is an automatic switch to offline radio stations whenever a subscriber loses an Internet connection – avoiding the sudden blackouts that remain an annoyance on streaming services.

Pandora said it would launch an on-demand subscription platform later this year. The service, whose pricing was not immediately revealed, would follow the model of Spotify in letting users select any song at any time.

Pandora, whose users overwhelmingly choose its free advertising-backed tier, said it would make the level more interactive.

Listeners will be able to skip or repeat songs if they click on a video commercial – a feature likely to delight advertisers who are crucial to the company’s bottom line.

Tim Westergren, the company’s co-founder who returned earlier this year as CEO, said Pandora wanted to give users “flexibility” in what they listen to and how much they pay.

“Whether a listener wants to take advantage of our enhanced ad-supported experience, our groundbreaking subscription radio service or our fully interactive on-demand option coming later this year, we have a solution tailored for you at a price point you can afford,” he said in a statement.

Pandora later Thursday said it had reached a licensing agreement with Warner Music for the on-demand service, two days after announcing deals with the other two major label conglomerates,Universal and Sony Music, and indie network Merlin.

Pandora share prices closed flat Thursday despite a surge on the US market.

Reviving stagnant growth?
Pandora, launched in 2000, designed itself as a radio network with stations based on genre and, more recently, automatically personalized around listeners’ selections.

It had 78 million active users at the end of June – an impressive number, but a slight fall from a year earlier.

Spotify by contrast has posted breakneck growth. The Swedish company said Wednesday that its number of paying subscribers soared by one-third in just the past half-year to 40 million, out of total users of 100 million when including its free tier.

Spotify’s audience tends to be younger, while Pandora’s strengths include casual listeners and restaurants and businesses looking to create a musical mood.

Global revenue from streaming rose more than 45 percent in 2015 alone, according to the IFPI industry group, leading the music industry to post its first significant growth since the start of the Internet age.

Apple Music as well as Tidal, led by rap mogul Jay Z, have sought a bigger slice of the market by promoting exclusives – such as, for Tidal, the latest album by Jay Z’s wife Beyonce.

Apple Music, launched by the tech giant last year, recently said it had 17 million paying subscribers – posting steady growth but significantly trailing Spotify.

As for Tidal, the Dagens Naeringsliv newspaper in Norway, where the service’s parent group Aspiro is based, this week reported that the company has suffered heavy losses and received around 100 payment default notices.

Unlike the major on-demand services, California-based Pandora has a limited global reach due to complex government regulations.

Outside of the United States, Pandora is only available in Australia and New Zealand where the new features will come out next year.
